God told me this morning when I first woke up to treat my business like the bees treat the clover in our yard. I've been trying to process what he meant and here it is.
We have a lawn full of clover which many people would be horrified with. Weeds. People rip them out of their lawns without a second thought. But those weeds are the sustenance for bees. Every day I see bees in our lawn and I realize that I'm part of the process. Bees are crucial because they pollinate 1/3 of the food we eat. What you deem weeds, I see as helping the ecosystem.
But what does this mean about my business?
I just looked up this stat and isn't it curiously the same as the bees. The global Christian population accounts for nearly 1/3 of all people on Earth.
I am feeding women with the Word so you won't feel hungry. Pollinating your soul. Not handing you something and walking away but planting something that takes root and grows on its own, long after I'm gone from the conversation.
Post-it notes are the weeds of our junk drawer. You know you can open yours and see a bunch and you wonder will I ever use these? But what if those post-it notes were pollinators and not just weeds. I started my business with Post-it notes. That's what He told me to do. Put His Word on post-it notes. And I'm starting to understand why. It seems simple but so is the bee sucking on the clover.
But here is what I'm sitting on. Am I the clover or the bee?
Let's think about what actually happens in my backyard, one bee doesn't just take from one clover patch and leave. As it moves, it's also cross-pollinating, carrying something from one flower to the next, helping the clover spread and thrive, not just feeding itself. The bee is part of why clover takes over my backyard instead of staying a single patch.
So maybe I'm a bee, who God said, help tend to my clover of women. The ones who think they're weeds because they don't remember they are worthy or feel anxious or alone. And by starting to tend to them is what causes the multiplying. Every time I sell a pack of declaration cards, I'm not just feeding one clover. I'm pollinating the whole field.
And then here's the part that might complete it. Every woman who receives and then gives them out becomes a bee too. She's a clover when she receives. She's a bee when she accepts what the Lord tells her through his Word, and then carries it onward to someone else. Same woman, both things, just depending on the moment.
So maybe nobody stays in one role. Sometimes you're the bee and sometimes you're the clover. But God told me when I woke up what I must bee (hmmm) and so I will obey.
